Quick Quote

Rooms and sizes in, an estimated price range out, in about a minute.

A Quick Quote is the fastest way to a price. The client gives the two suburbs, picks their Roos and taps Large or Small for each room. The app fills each room with typical contents and shows a price range, usually in under a minute. It’s the default when the form opens.

A Quick Quote for a typical 2-bedroom home with 2 Roos: $834 to $1,063.

What the client enters#

  • The suburbs they’re moving from and to, and whether each end is on the ground floor (stairs or lift and the level if not).
  • Whether they’d like help packing and unpacking.
  • 1 Roo or 2 Roos.
  • Their rooms, each Large or Small. The note under each room’s artwork explains what that size means in your catalogue.
  • A date and start time, when they’re ready to book.

There’s no item list, no cleaning option and no property questions. Those belong to the Full Quote.

How the range is worked out#

Each room size comes with a default set of items from your catalogue: a Large bedroom might have a queen bed, bedside tables, a chest of drawers and some boxes. The app adds up those items’ handling times and works out the price exactly as for a Full Quote (see How prices are worked out). It then shows a range either side of that price:

  • Low: the price less 12%, rounded down, but never less than the minimum charge (4 hours at the hourly rate).
  • High: the price plus 12%, rounded up.

The 12% is Quick-quote range ±% in Settings, Pricing.

Under the price the client sees your disclaimer: “This Quick Quote is an estimate only, based on typical room contents. Switch to a Full Quote for a fixed price.” with a Switch to Full Quote link. You can change the wording in Settings, Customer text.

When to suggest a Full Quote#

A Quick Quote suits a typical home. Suggest the client switches to a Full Quote, or do one for them, when:

  • They have unusual or heavy items: a piano, a pool table, a safe.
  • Rooms are much fuller or emptier than usual, or some rooms are unfurnished.
  • They want cleaning, or a fixed price rather than a range.
  • Access is tricky: no parking, a load or height limit on the driveway, a building that needs notice.

Switching keeps everything they’ve entered and fills in the item lists from their rooms, so they only adjust what’s different.

On moving day#

Whatever the quote type, the client pays for the time the job actually takes, rounded down to the quarter hour with the minimum applied. A good Quick Quote and the final bill usually land close together. The office can compare them on Reports under “Quote accuracy”.
